Thistle Theatre and friends donate to Japanese disaster relief

Thistle Theatre sent a donation of $1063.11 to Mercy Corps Japanese disaster relief. Thistle Theatre donated 25% of ticket sales and all donations collected at Momotaro (Peach Boy) in their fundraiser weekend of March 25- 27, 2011 at the Sunset Hill Community Club in Ballard. Thistle Theatre used Bunraku-style puppets and origami puppets to tell the classic Japanese children’s story.

Sean and Mia Deblieck and friends held a bake sale during the Momotaro fundraiser weekend that raised $678.50.  It is their hope to double the money earned with a corporate match.

Thistle Theatre and the Deblieck family and friends will join together again to host a follow up fundraiser event for Japan relief. It will take place during the Sunset Hill Community Club weekend run of Thistle Theatre Hanako and the Cherry Tree in March of 2012.

I'm a college librarian and dabble in puppetry. Nettle (my profile picture and creation) enjoys reading and singing with preschoolers as well as annoying my colleagues.
