Meeting: Sunday, December 4, 2011

Join us!  On December 4 starting at 4:15 pm, at the Sunset Hill Community Club (3003 NW 66th Street, Seattle, WA) we will be gathering for our next guild meeting.

First off are general proceedings and updates from the Executive Board.

Then, artists Carol Wolfe Clay and Ki Gottberg sit down with us to share reflections on their process in creating their play for actors and puppets, little world, including a look at the puppets designed and built by Carol:

“Four years ago Carol Wolfe Clay and Ki Gottberg, longtime friends and collaborators in the world of theatre, found themselves living on the same floor in different wards of Seattle Children’s hospital.  One had a child who was now quadriplegic; the other, battling life-threatening cancer.  These two mothers found themselves lost in the deep and complicated process of grief.  Clay retreated to her studio, creating a little world of her own full of handmade puppets; Gottberg brought this little world to life, writing a play inspired by this physical world and reflective of their shared experiences.” (from the production program)

As a special bonus, come at 3pm and see Thistle Theatre’s production of Merry Chris Mouse at no charge:

“A brown mouse family, without a piece of cheese to its name, finds a new home in the wall of a child’s playroom. While exploring, Christine and Christopher discover a tiny white mouse in a cage…plans for a rescue ensue! This is an original heartwarming story of sharing at holiday time. Original songs by Sue Ennis including ‘Carving the Christmas Cheese’.  (

Additionally, two collections of puppetry books will be for sale at the meeting. You won’t want to miss it!

Hope to see you all there!
