Papier and Pints
August 16, 6-9pm
A fun and free workshop for all ages with artist Brian Kooser will give artists a chance to get their hands gooey, while familiarizing themselves with clay as a positive mold and papier mache as a fine arts form. Collaborative sculpting and casting will be emphasized. Materials and beverages(for all ages) are included. This workshop is made possible by a grants from The Ellensburg Arts Commission.
Giant Puppets, Masks and Sculpture
with Brian Kooser
$140 + $30 material fee
August 25 & 26, 9am – 4pm
This workshop with will be a hands-on exploration of techniques for creating large, lightweight, three-dimensional elements such as giant puppet heads, masks or sculpture. Artist Brian Kooser will draw on his 20 years of Celebration Art experience to demonstrate how to create inexpensive armatures, sculpt clay and cast from a positive mold using advanced papier mache skills learned from a Czechoslovakian puppet master. Projects begun in this workshop can be brought to fruition at the Buskers in the Burg open workshops beginning August 26 at a downtown storefront. Plug in and get an early start for the Arts Parade in September, or learn new inexpensive methods for creating your own imagery. Brian Kooser was awarded a Birkin Owart Arts and Humanities Grant which has made him available for the Parade Workshops.
