Call for Performance Proposals for PNW Regional Festival

The Left Coast Puppet Love Fest, August 6-9, 2020 in Portland, OR, is the Official Regional Festival for the Pacific Northwest Region of The Puppeteers of America.

The Left Coast Puppet Love Fest will bring together professional puppeteers, students, librarians, educators, and inspired beginners in Portland, OR to share knowledge, enthusiasm, and resources.

Festival Dates: August 6-9, 2020
Performance Application deadline is March 2, 2020

Our aim in selecting performances is to provide festival attendees with high-quality performances in a wide variety of puppetry styles, especially showcasing the talents of the Pacific Northwest and West Coast. This application is for feature-length presentations (shows roughly 20-90 minutes long). Slots are limited, so we hope to fill them with variety and expertise.

Performance selection and management will be handled by Festival Artistic Director Mary Nagler and committee: Matthew Stowers, Bill Holtznagle, and Valerie Scott.

We invite you to submit your workshop to become part of The Left Coast Puppet Love Fest.
The Official 2020 Regional Festival for the Pacific Northwest Region of The Puppeteers of America, The Left Coast Puppet Love Fest will bring together professional puppeteers, students, librarians, educators, and inspired beginners in Portland, OR to share knowledge, enthusiasm and resources.

Left Coast Puppet Love Fest is led by co-Directors Dustin Curtis (Seattle) and Mary Nagler (Portland). Local Puppeteers of America Guilds – Puppetry Guild of Portland, Puppeteers of Puget Sound and Willamette Valley Puppeteers – will organize and run the festival.
Our aim in selecting workshops is to provide festival attendees with a wide variety of topics (Performing, Building, Business) formats (Lecture, Demonstrations, Hands-on) and puppeteering styles. Workshops with an academic or scholarly focus as well as workshops in related arts fields such as crafts and theatre are also welcome.
Successful workshops are those and in which participants come away with a new or improved applicable skill, insight and/or inspiration and where the exploration of the topic at hand is suited to being absorbed in the given time period.
Workshop selection and management will be handled by Festival co-Director Mary Nagler (Portland) and Workshop Chair Rachel Jackson of Vox Fabuli Puppets (Seattle). The workshop track is sponsored by Felt-a-con.
Workshop teachers will receive an honorarium. Registration and lodging are not covered.

Applications open for FIBER FEST 2020: Puppet Slam!

FIBER FEST 2020:  PUPPET SLAM!

Fiber Fest 2020 is looking for Puget Sound area puppeteers to participate in Fiber Fest’s Adult Puppet Slam on March 7, 2020. Hosted by Little’s Creatures, the Puppet Slam will feature short form puppet acts and a variety of styles of puppetry for a night of furry fun!
The museum is 2 blocks from the terminal and totally walkable, but there is a possibility of carpooling from Seattle, too, so let us know if you need a ride.
SUBMISSIONS:
Adult Puppet Slam = PG-13 and geared toward an evening adult audience…not for kiddos
3-5 minute acts
All forms of puppetry accepted

We’re very excited to announce our Call for Artists for Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam – Volume 14! 

Show dates: Friday & Saturday, April 20 & 21

Additional dates: Tech rehearsal Wednesday or Thursday, April 18 or 19

Location: Theatre Off Jackson (409 7th Ave S, Seattle, WA)

About the Show: Fussy Cloud aims to provide Seattle with quality adult puppetry performances and support the growth and exploration of both new and seasoned puppeteers. Each slam features an evening of live puppet shorts (and sometimes films). Vol. 14 is presented in association with Theatre Off Jackson. Whether you are new to puppetry or have performed at our slam before, we invite you to submit. Whether you have a finished piece to debut, an idea to workshop, or a puppet classic, we want to hear from you! Fussy Cloud is a place to be creative, quirky and experimental.

What We Are Seeking:

– Adult puppet pieces up to 8 minutes long (“adult” as in “not necessarily for children”; “blue” material is acceptable but not required)

– We love to encounter new acts and new (or just new-to-us) performers.

– We are primarily a live show, but we are also happy to consider your short puppet films (just be aware that preference is given to live performance pieces)

Small stipends will be paid to each act, and additionally, some travel stipends are available for out-of-towners.

*Please Note: Technical resources are limited – slams are quick and dirty!  If you have a technically complex piece, please let us know the specs when you apply so we may determine if it is simple enough to be successful in the slam format.

Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam has been providing quality puppet shows for the fine adults of Seattle since 2011. From the Aurora Valentinetti Museum:   
 
We are currently seeking two professional performances this season.  We schedule Saturday 2:00 shows usually running about 40- 50 minutes with a bit of show and tell interaction with the audience (ages pre-K thru 2nd/3rd grade) before/during and/or after .  12:00 – 4:00 set up/take down time.
      Our Price range is $300 to $600.
     This season is unsettled because of the delay of Olympic College’s  new theatre readiness (still unknown). And they are not taking any bookings yet…

      Saturday, October 21, 2017, 2:00PM Clay Martin performed his “Punch and Pals”at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church fellowship Hall, Bremerton  
      Saturday., February. 24, 2018 2:00PM  Emily Alexander, Tears of Joy Theatre, will perform,  “Stellaluna” at Our Saviors’ Lutheran again.  
 Dates with the theatre or church depending on availability. 
    We look forward to hearing from any interested possible performers.

The Dolly Wiggler Cabaret is looking for mask and puppet artists to show off short bits of brilliance in a puppet slam for adults during Puppet Power 2016.
WHEN: Fri & Sat, May 27 & 28
WHERE: Calgary’s #1 Legion, 116 – 7 Ave SE
WHAT: The Dolly Wiggler Cabaret features short form puppetry for adult audiences
WHO: hosted by Cirque du Soleil clown and comedienne Mooky Cornish, and skill artist extraordinaire Sara Ski, the cabaret features local, national and international artists.
WHY:  The Dolly Wiggler welcomes brand new works in progress, polished numbers and anything you’d like to share as a puppeteer or mask artist.
COME PLAY!
We are looking for about 3 minutes of material, to be performed both nights.
We welcome you to share works you never get to show, new creations you are starting to share with the world, and polished brilliance you love to perform.
Performers will receive an honorarium for their performance.
