Call for Puppeteers and Companies! Last year the Puppeteers of America Board of Trustees voted to move National Day of Puppetry to coincide with UNIMA’s World Puppetry Day. The event is March 21, 2015.
Dustin Curtis (a new member of the Puppeteers of Puget Sound) has organized an outreach pre-event. Dustin received a permit from Seattle Parks & Recreation (who kindly waived the usage fees) for a “meet & greet” of puppets onSaturday, March 14th from 1pm-6pm in Westlake Park. He has arranged to have two tables. One table will hold fliers or giveaways from puppet shows/companies. There are numerous puppetry events on the actual day, March 21, so this event is a week early to help drive traffic to support puppetry artists. The other table will hold paper bag puppets that Dustin’s puppet company will be donating for handouts. He has paid the insurance fee for the event. He is looking for volunteers who would like to stop by for an hour or two (or the whole event) to “show off your puppet, busk perform, answer questions or possibly take photos if requested.” He is also seeking promo materials to help talk about your company or upcoming show/season.
He is organizing a puppet making party for the March 14 event on Thursday, March 12 at 6:00PM.
Many thanks to Dustin for organizing this event. If you are interested or would like more details about the March 14event, please email Dustin directly at email@example.com
Here is a link to the flyer that will be given out on the March 14th event listing the puppetry events around Puget Sound on March 21. National and World Day of Puppetry
