The Puppet Guild of Greater Saint Louis, Inc. is proud to announces a Puppeteers of America, Inc. sanctioned combined regional festival for the Great Plains and Great Lakes Regions in Saint Louis, MO Thursday, August 4, through Saturday, August 6, 2016. The theme is “Thinking Outside the Box.”
Anyone wishing to present a workshop or performance in keeping with the theme is requested to submit a description and technical rider to the Workshop or Performance Consultant. Application forms can be obtained on the festival site ( PuppetFestivalSTL.org ), as well, just select the workshops or performances tabs. Those will be passed on the festival board with the recommendations and suggestions of the consultants. The deadline for submissions is April 15, 2016.
The performances will take place in the Grand Center Arts District and on adjoining campus of Saint Louis University. The “official” hotel is a nearby, reasonably priced Holiday Inn Express where workshops will also be taking place. The registration will be $150 advance and $175 after July 4. Hotel rooms will be $104/night plus tax for a double occupancy room.”. The Holiday Inn features a free breakfast for guest, other meals will be extra.
There will be no “store”, but a “flea market” will be set up prior the final Saturday performance. And we are working on a space for an exhibit.
The local staffing includes Daniel Romano, festival director; Michelle Gulick, assistant festival director; Stan Gulick, comptroller and registrar; Tom Bonham, communications and public relations.
Additional outside staffing includes Monica Leo and Dave Herzog as performance consultants, and Pam Corcoran as workshop consultant.

SAVE THE DATE! Next meeting will center around the art of hand puppetry, featuring a performance by Mary Shaver.
Mary Shaver is an artist, master puppeteer, and educator who spent twenty-five years living in Asia and Europe Mary Shaver performs, lectures, and consults and starred for three years on the award-winning children’s television show “Pepe’s Magic Tales”. Instructional handout will be provided at the workshop/performance meeting.

We are less than three months away from the 2015 National Puppetry Festival of the Puppeteers of America, and over 400 registrants are planning to attend. Registration fees increase June 1st, so ACT NOW and register today.
Several workshops are reaching capacity enrollment. The Festival Committee is in process of scheduling additional sessions for workshops that are full or near full, in order to accommodate the growing interest.
A final schedule of all events will be announced by the end of May. Daily updates are currently available on the Festival’s website, with links to Facebook and Twitter.

We came up a bit short of applicants for the Young adult and Youth Scholarships for the 2016 festival. We want to get as many of our youth to the fest as possible so we have extended the deadline for applicants in these categories till February 20th. Hello Puppeteers of America guilds! This is Nick Hubbard, part of the organizing team for the next PofA National Festival in 2013. One of our goals in planning the Festival is to promote Community and encourage new people to join P of A. To that end, we are searching for photos from past National Festivals that feature folks having fun. We’re hoping that some of you might be willing to share 2 or 3 of your favorite photos with our Facebook page and possibly our festival website?
We’re looking for photos of people hanging out, having a good time, not necessarily fancy production shots. These photos are not for profit, they are simply part of a photo album that people can see and share with friends on Facebook and possibly the festival website.

You can see how we present the images, thank the donor, and let folks tag themselves. It’s a nice variety!
We are giving credit for photos wherever possible. If you have concerns about privacy, let us know and we can discuss. Some donors have taken the step to contact people in the photos for permission, though that is not necessary. If you do not wish to be credited, that is also ok.
